Key Stage 4
The curriculum for students in Years 10 & 11 continues to consolidate and extend the learning within the subjects and elements covered in KS3 but also incorporates a bespoke college link course, vocational options and Work Experience placements for both year groups. These additional elements help support and prepare the students for transition and adulthood.
The additional opportunities accessed in KS4 allow the students to showcase their skills to a wider community and facilitates and informs effective planning for successful post-16 transition. The college experience gives the students the opportunity to visualise and prepare with increased confidence for their next steps into FE provision. Work experience opportunities help the students to get a real sense of the world of work and how they will continue learning and developing in a new context. This also helps to change employers’ thinking about SEND young people and realising that often their additional needs are an opportunity rather than a barrier.
As part of the vocational offer we offer KS4 students access to the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and to personal development and hair & beauty courses.
